Service Description
The classes drawn from the movement tradition of José Limón, and are geared towards making the student realize the limitless movement potential of the body, as well as the use of gravity as a prime initiator of movement. The class begins with breathing exercises designed to connect breath to body. As air enters and exists the body, the student will experience the lightness that comes with inhalation, and the dense weightiness exhalation naturally provides. We explore this dynamic with deep leg and body bends, always making sure the pelvis maintains its verticality. The class with then evolves into swings of arms, legs, head, and torso. This allows the student to feel the uneven rhythmic nature of falling with the assistance of gravity, rising in opposition to it. Falls are then explored by going completely to the floor from an elevated suspended position. We go then to locomotive work that again utilized gravity and resistance to it as a catalyze for spacial displacement. Eventually going into the air, and finalizing with long dynamic movement sequences designed to explore the isolative movements of the arms, leg, torso, and head while simultaneously engaging with spacial dimension and level change.
